Park Favorite Adds FASTPASS® Service at Magic Kingdom® Park

New Dumbo

Beginning today, the Dumbo the Flying Elephant® Attraction at Magic Kingdom® Park will begin utilizing Disney’s FASTPASS® Service. This, in addition to the added second carousel and new interactive Big Top Tent “queue-less queue,” should make waiting for one of the park’s most popular rides a little easier on the little ones.

Guests can collect a FASTPASS® for the Dumbo the Flying Elephant® Attraction outside of Mickey’s PhilharMagic® Attraction in Fantasyland®. Both the second carousel and the interactive Big Top Tent have been in “soft opening” testing and have been open sporadically throughout the day but are expected to open permanently in July.

Earlier this week, we shared with you some details on the new “queue-less queue” that is coming soon to the Dumbo the Flying Elephant® Attraction at Magic Kingdom® Park. Today, we have a video to share with you of this really fun play area!

Enjoy as Anne, Show Producer for Walt Disney Imagineering shows you some of the features of the big top tent!

New “Queue-less Queue” coming to Dumbo the Flying Elephant® Attraction

Dumbo the Flying Elephant® Attraction Interactive QueueKids of all ages enjoy taking flight on the Dumbo the Flying Elephant® Attraction when they visit the Magic Kingdom® Park. But soon, the wait before boarding the attraction will be the “star of the show!”

As part of the New Fantasyland® Area expansion, the attraction will gain a second ride carousel and a new interactive queue which will be inside the big top tent in Storybook Circus. This queue is an innovative area created by Walt Disney Imagineering and will redefine how guests see “wait times.”

Dumbo the Flying Elephant® Attraction Interactive QueueGuests wishing to ride the Dumbo the Flying Elephant® Attraction will receive a “circus ticket” (similar to pagers used at many restaurants). The “circus ticket” will hold their place in line and notify them when it’s their turn to take flight on the airborne pachyderms. While waiting, guests can take center stage by enjoying several play experiences all centered around the circus theme.

The new “queue-less queue” inside the big top tent is scheduled to open to guests in July. A similar system was tested back in 2009 at the Rock ‘n Roller Coaster® Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

New Fantasyland Update

Storybook CircusWalt Disney World® Resort has announced that the first portion of the new Storybook Circus area, which is inspired by Disney’s animated film “Dumbo,” will open by late March! The Storybook Circus area is just one part of the New Fantasyland expansion that is taking place right now at the Magic Kingdom® Park. This expansion is the largest in the history of the Magic Kingdom® Park.

The first stage of the progressive openings will include the Fantasyland Station of the Walt Disney World® Railroad, one of the two carousels of the Dumbo the Flying Elephant® Attraction, and the Barnstormer which has been re-themed to star the Great Goofini.

Also, in order to make room for the new Princess Fairytale Hall, the last day of operation of the Snow White’s Scary Adventures® Attraction will be May 31, 2012.

We will bring you more details on the new Fantasyland Expansion as they become available.
