Scheduled Maintenance to Affect Walt Disney World® Monorail System

Some planned maintenance will affect operations of the Walt Disney World® Monorail System on select days through the Summer.

The Magic Kingdom® Express Beam will not operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 11:30a – 6:00p starting Mar. 10, 2015. The Magic Kingdom® Resort and Epcot® Beams will continue to operate without interruptions during that time. Normal operations of the Magic Kingdom® Express Beam is expected outside of the aforementioned dates and times.

Resort Guests wishing to travel between the Magic Kingdom® Park and the TTC can utilize the ferry boats or the Magic Kingdom® Resort Monorail Beam.

“The Avengers”-Themed Monorail Debuts at Walt Disney World® Resort

Guests may remember back in March of 2010 when the Walt Disney World® Resort debuted the Tron monorail as a promotion for the upcoming movie.

Now, guests will be able to spot The Avengers monorail making its “rounds” on the Magic Kingdom® Park loop throughout the summer. The Avengers monorail celebrates the May 4th opening of Marvel’s film on the big screen.

Temporary Changes to Walt Disney World® Resort Monorail Schedule

Due to maintenance and construction at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa , the Walt Disney World® Resort has announced a temporary schedule change to the Monorail system.

Monorail service on both the Magic Kingdom® Park Resort and Express beams will be suspended during the non-peak times of 11:30 am until 6:00pm daily. During this time, additional buses and watercraft will be used to transport guests throughout the Walt Disney World® Resort. Guests wishing to go from the Magic Kingdom® Park or one of the Monorail Resorts to Epcot® will take a bus to the Transportation and Ticket Center where they can transfer to the Epcot® Monorail.

The Epcot® Monorail is unaffected by this change. Normal operating hours for both the Magic Kingdom® Park Resort and Express beams is expected to resume by the end of March, 2012.

TRON Monorail

Guests at Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida can see a bit of the TRON universe zipping high above their heads. Tron MonorailRenderings of yellow and blue light cycles have transformed one of the trains on the Walt Disney World’s legendary monorail line. A blue light cycle zips to the left along one side of Walt Disney World’s “highway in the sky” and the yellow light cycle zooms to the right. This particular monorail currently takes guests between Epcot® and the Walt Disney World ® Resort’s main Ticket and Transportation Center.

Tron Monorail

This is not just to remind you of the 1982 film, but to introduce you to a new classic.  The sequel, “TRON: Legacy”, to 1982’s “TRON,” starring Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges, will be released in both Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D and is currently scheduled to debut across the US on December 17.
