‘Monsieur Paul’ Restaurant Opens Today at Epcot®

Guests wanting to dine inside Epcot’s® World Showcase now have another option to add to their list.

Monsieur Paul Restaurant, which opens today after a refurbishment, will replace the Bistro de Paris location inside the France Pavilion. While less formal than its predecessor, the restaurant is still considered upscale with its classic French architecture. Named with a nod to famed chef Paul Bocuse, the location will serve a menu celebrating the authentic French tastes that he is known for. Fans of the Les Chefs de France are no strangers to Chef Paul’s cooking as he opened that restaurant in Epcot® in 1982!

Menu options at Monsieur Paul’s will include dishes like black winter truffle and beef broth soup; Maine lobster, vegetable brunoise, bisque, and rice Pilaf; and herb crusted rack of lamb Niçoise style tart with goat cheese, onions, arugula cassoulette of flageolet beans. Two of the dessert options will include warm Grand Marnier soufflé and triple chocolate cake.

Open 7 days a week for dinner (beginning at 5:30p), Monsieur Paul will be accepted under the Disney Dining Plan as a Signature Restaurant (two credit meal).

Final Countdown To New Fantasyland

We are just 6 days away from the highly anticipated Grand Opening of the New Fantasyland® Area in the Magic Kingdom® Park. Officially opening on Thursday, Dec. 6th to park guests is the Enchanted Forest, consisting of Under the Sea~Journey of the Little Mermaid, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Ariel’s Grotto, Be Our Guest Restaurant, and Gaston’s Tavern. Storybook Circus, also part of the New Fantasyland® expansion, previously opened to guests. Future additions to New Fantasyland® include Princess Fairytale Hall(2013) and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (2014).

We thought that some New Fantasyland® Fun Facts would be a great way help pass these few remaining days!

  • Originally 10 acres, the New Fantasyland expansion doubles the size to 21 acres!
  • Inside the Library at Enchanted Tales with Belle, guests will find over 12,000 “books.”
  • Beast’s Castle contains 115 windows.
  • The design teams called the lion-like figures flanking the door at the entrance to Be Our Guest Restaurant “golions,” a combination of goat and lion. The figures above the entrance doors, eagles with snake tails, were called “sneagles.”
  • Be Our Guest Restaurant’s centerpiece chandelier measures more than 12 feet tall and 11 feet wide. It boasts more than 84 candles and more than 100 jewels that hang down to give it added shine.
  • As a way to identify them, the six stone figures on the bridge leading to Be Our Guest Restaurant were all given the name “Frank” during the design phase.
  • At the Magic Kingdom® Park, Disneyland® Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland®, and at the Disneyland® Resort, Timothy Mouse carries a magic feather atop the Dumbo attraction. At Tokyo Disneyland®, he holds a circus whip.
  • Talk about authenticity! The music heard from the old fashioned calliope in the front of Pete’s Silly Sideshow was recorded from a set of antique circus crank organs owned by a collector in Southern California.

The Comedy Warehouse Brings Laughs to Disney’s Hollywood Studios™

Walt Disney World® Resort has always been a place full of laughter. From entertainment to rides, and everything in between, smiles are not a rarity when you are on property!

However, on September 27th, 2008 Walt Disney World® Resort lost one of their ‘laughter’ staples when Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island area closed all of their nightclubs. In doing so, Comedy Warehouse opened their doors for a final time.

Comedy Warehouse was a nightclub at Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island that featured an improv comedy troupe. It was originally the home to the parody show “Forbidden Disney”; before introducing the improve comedy troupe to keep things fresh.

Last year, fans of the former Comedy Warehouse were given a special treat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ as the cast reunited for a special show that ran for 7 days called “The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special”. The special show was met by capacity crowds every day.

Now, Comedy Warehouse fans have something else to look forward to, and it is something you won’t want to miss even if this is your first introduction to the improv comedy troupe. “The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special” is returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ again this year! Sure, there are plenty of things to make you smile and laugh at Walt Disney World® Resort, but this show is a must for the whole family!

“The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special” will be returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ at the end of this year, and this time for an extended 14 days! The show will run from December 23rd through January 5th in the Premier Theatre.

The best part? “The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special” is included in your regular Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ park admission! Now that’s nothing to laugh about!

“’The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special’ is like a family reunion of the Cast of the Comedy Warehouse,” said Show Director Chris Oyen. “We’re so happy to be able to bring everyone together again for the holiday season and to put on this show. It’s a gift from our family to yours.”

If you are heading to Walt Disney World® Resort during the busy Christmas season, this is one ‘must’ that you don’t want to miss. And if you are looking for another ‘excuse’ to head to Walt Disney World® Resort, well you are welcome! Our Magic Makers® are ready to help you get there!

Agent P Expands His Missions

Since opening in July, Disney Phineas and Ferb: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure has been recruiting guests to help Agent P thwart the plans of the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz inside Epcot®. And now, Agent P has expanded his missions, giving the “more experienced” agents a new experience!

Becoming a secret agent is easy. Just stop by one of the Agent P kiosks and pick up your Field Operative Notifications Equipment (F.O.N.E.). Then, just follow the clues and information given to you by your F.O.N.E. as you scour World Showcase for clues and hidden evil “Inators.” Missions can last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes and are a fun way to explore Epcot’s® World Showcase.

VIDEO: Magic Kingdom® Park Trimmed for the Season

Over this Thanksgiving weekend, many of you have likely started the transformation of your homes to make them “merry and bright” for the holiday season. While decorating can seem like quite the undertaking, it is nothing compared to the conversion Walt Disney World® Resort Cast Members complete on the Magic Kingdom® Park. After months of planning, an autumn Main Street, U.S.A.® turns into a Christmas wonderland in just hours!

Enjoy this time-lapse video of this year’s changeover:

Candlelight Processional Begins Tonight at Epcot®

While the day after Thanksgiving is a day of shopping to many in the United States, at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida it is the official kickoff to the Holiday Season! Today was the beginning of Epcot’s® Holidays Around the World and tonight they will hold their first Candlelight Processional.

During Holidays Around the World, special storytellers from the respective World Showcase pavilions share traditions and lore from their homeland along with other live entertainment. But no Yuletide tradition would be complete without a meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Guests will end their night with a special seasonal finale to IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.

Epcot’s® Candlelight Processional is a timeless holiday offering that pairs the reading of the Christmas story by a celebrity narrator with seasonal music performed by a mass choir and 50-piece live orchestra. Performed three times daily (5p, 6:45p, and 8:15p), the show is a guest favorite that is difficult to get seats for. Guests wanting to attend can purchase a Candlelight Dining Package which includes lunch or dinner at a select Epcot® restaurant, guaranteed seating for the Candlelight Processional, and VIP viewing of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.

This year’s list of celebrity narrators include:

11/23-11/25 — Geena Davis
11/26-11/29 — Neil Patrick Harris
11/30-12/1 — Whoopi Goldberg

Walt Disney World® VoluntEARS Assist In Raising $16.8M for Victims of Hurricane Sandy

Earlier this month, more than 75 Walt Disney World® Resort Cast Member VoluntEARS gave of their time by helping with ABC’s national “Day of Giving.” The cast members manned phones at the Disney Reservation Center in Orlando answering calls from donors all over the country wanting to help the American Red Cross aide those affected by Hurricane Sandy. With a large volume of incoming calls, the event raised more than $16.8 million dollars.

During those calls, the VoluntEARS heard many touching stories, including the 100 year old man  who donated $100 in honor of his age and a 10-year old girl who called in to donate her weekly allowance!

The fundraising event was in addition to the relief and rebuilding efforts announced by The Walt Disney Company previously.

VIDEO: ‘Castle Dream Lights’ Brighten the Landscape at Magic Kingdom® Park

One of our guest’s favorite things about the holiday at the Magic Kingdom® Park is seeing the Castle Dream Lights. Nightly, Cinderella Castle is transformed into a glimmering ice palace. While the castle stays lit all night, the Cinderella’s Holiday Wish show only takes place once per evening, so be sure to check your Times Guide so you don’t miss it!

Enjoy this video as Creative Director Reed Jones gives you the inside scoop on Cinderella Castle’s Castle Dream Lights.
