From Friday, Aug. 23 through Sunday, 25, 2019, fans of The Walt Disney Company will flock to the D23 Expo Anaheim Convention Center in beautiful Southern California to celebrate everything Disney – past, present and future!

During every D23 Expo, we find out additional details around yet-to-be-announced and highly-anticipated attractions and experiences coming to Disney Destinations! While some of these exciting announcement will come at various times throughout the weekend, the majority will be released during a presentation hosted by Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 10:30a Pacific.

Holidays Shine Bright at the Disneyland® Resort

It is almost that time of year again!  From November 9, 2019 to January 6, 2020, the Disneyland® Resort transforms into the Merriest Place on Earth! Here is just some of the holiday fun you can expect this year at the Disneyland® Resort. We’ll keep you updated on any future holiday announcements!

At Disneyland® Park:

  • Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle and “Believe… in Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular return to the holiday lineup.
  • Also returning is “A Christmas Fantasy” parade, “it’s a small world” Holiday, and Haunted Mansion Holiday!

At Disney California Adventure® Park:

  • Santa and his elves will greet guests at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.
  • Residents of Cars Land get into the spirit of the holidays with special decorations and holiday overlay turning two of the land’s popular attractions into Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree.
  • Festival of the Holidays returns as a showcase of diverse cultural holiday celebrations like Christmas/Navidad, Hanukkah, Diwali, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day. In addition to the always popular Disney ¡Viva Navidad! offerings, the festival will feature marketplaces serving internationally-inspired food and beverage.
  • As an ending to a perfect day in the park, “World of Color – Season of Light” will wow guests with this holiday-themed show.

Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party Announced for Disney California Adventure® Park

Disneyland® Resort in Southern California has announced details for Halloween Time taking place Sep. 6 through Oct. 31, 2019.

During Halloween Time, the entire Disneyland® Resort area is decorated for the most be-witching time of the year. Several attractions are slated to receive their always popular holiday overlays, including The Haunted Mansion, Guardians of the Galaxy, Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree. Halloween Screams nighttime spectacular will return nightly to Disneyland® Park, with fireworks added to the show on select nights. In Disney California Adventure® Park, Plaza de la Familia will return to Paradise Gardens Park to celebrate the spirit of Día de los Muertos.  And throughout the resorts, you’ll find creepy keepsakes and witch-worthy snacks to celebrate the season.

New for 2019 to the Halloween Time at Disneyland® Resort offerings is Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party. This special-ticketed event allows guests young and old to don a costume and trick-or-treat in Anaheim’s ultimate neighborhood, the Disney California Adventure® Park! You’ll even see the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow make his spooky ride through the park each night of the party! Highlights of the new Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party include:

  • A new World of Color show called “Villainous!”
  • Redwood Creek Challenge Trail transformation by Disney villains
  • Immersive Treat Trails
  • A new DescenDance dance party inspired by Disney Channel’s “Descendants”

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – What We Know About Batuu

Back in August of 2015, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced that a brand-new, 14-acre Star Wars-themed land was coming to Disneyland® Park in Southern California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios® in Florida. Since then, anticipation has reached galactic proportions as construction and details of the largest single-themed land expansion at both parks has progressed.

Let’s take a look at what we know so far about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. We’ll keep the page updated as more details emerge.

Upcoming runDisney Event and Registration Dates

If you aren’t familiar with runDisney races, they are family-friendly running events that are held at the Walt Disney World® and Disneyland® Resorts. Ranging from 5K to marathons and even kids runs, the races are a creative way to bring new runners to the sport by utilizing the popularity of Disney Parks. It’s a perfect match! So perfect, in fact, that runDisney has become one of the largest race organizers in the United States – both in terms of the number of races and runners. Each year more than 200,000 runners participate in a runDisney event!

NOTE: Due to construction, all runDisney race weekends at the Disneyland® Resort have been placed on hiatus beginning in 2018 – including the associated Coast to Coast Race Challenges.

Disney Destinations News from D23 Destination D

Some exciting details on new experiences coming in the future to Disney Parks were just announced at D23’s Destination D at the Walt Disney World® Resort! Here’s an overview of what was announced!

Walt Disney World® Resort

  • “Wonderful World of Animation” – new nighttime state-of-the-art projection show debuting at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® in May 2019 as part of the park’s 30th anniversary celebration features 90 years of Disney Animation.
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – Work is still in progress on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®. This will be the first-ever ride-through attraction themed to Mickey Mouse!
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration – From Jan. 18 to Sep. 30, 2019, Magic Kingdom® Park hosts a surprise celebration for Mickey & Minnie featuring new food, merchandise and entertainment, including a new dance party with Mickey, Minnie and their friends.
  • New Nighttime Spectacular at Epcot® –  Opening in 2020, this new nighttime spectacular will celebrate how Disney music inspires people around the world. The still-unnamed show will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics and lasers.
  • “Epcot Forever” – In fall 2019 between the end of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth and the debut of the new Epcot® nighttime show, a limited-time show called “Epcot Forever” will play in World Showcase Lagoon featuring classic Epcot® tunes. The show will begin with a spark of imagination that swells into an epic spectacle of fireworks, music, lighting, lasers, and special effects kites.
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – Scheduled to open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World® Resort in 2021, the “Ratatouille” experience coming to the France pavilion officially has a name – Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
  • France Pavilion – Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure isn’t the only new things coming to the France pavilion. A brand new “Beauty and the Beast” sing-along created by Don Hahn, producer of the animated and live-action “Beauty and the Beast” films, will soon debut in the pavilion.
  • O Canada Update – In the Canada pavilion, an update of the existing O Canada! 360-degree show is in the works.
  • Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – We now know the names of the two major attractions that will be part of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on opening day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run puts guests behind the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy in one of three unique flight crew roles. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance  will put guests in the middle of an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order.
  • Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge – A new deluxe-level resort is planned to open in 2022. Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge is a nature-inspired resort located along the picturesque shoreline of Bay Lake between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and will feature more than 900 hotel rooms and villas.

Disneyland® Resort

  • “Get Your Ears On — A Mickey and Minnie Celebration” – This limited-time celebration will feature new entertainment, food and merchandise throughout the resort. Starting Jan. 18, “Mickey’s Mix Magic” will light up the night at Disneyland® park with all-new music, projections and lasers that set the scene for an epic dance party that takes over almost the entire park. Also, the fan-favorite Mickey’s Soundsational Parade returns to Disneyland® Park in Jan. 2019 with a new float for Mickey!
  • Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – We now know the names of the two major attractions that will be part of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on opening day at Disneyland®Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run puts guests behind the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy in one of three unique flight crew roles. Disney Cruise Line

  • Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Party at SeaDisney Cruise Line is celebrating everyone’s favorite mouse with Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Party at Sea. Guests aboard select Disney Fantasy sailings in Summer 2019 will enjoy an all-new high-energy deck party.
