Disney Fans Worldwide Mourn the Loss of a Disney Legend
If you have ever visited a Disney Park, it is likely you have been exposed to several songs composed by the Sherman Brothers. Their songs conjure childhood memories for many and their lyrics are stuck in the minds of millions.
Disney Legend Robert Sherman has sadly passed in London at the age of 86. Picked by Walt Disney himself, Robert and his surviving brother, Disney Legend Richard Sherman, composed many songs used by Disney in several Disney movies, animations, and theme park attractions.
Some of the major projects the Sherman Brothers’ worked on are:
- Film Scores for:
- The Parent Trap
- The Sword in the Stone
- Mary Poppins
- The Jungle Book
- Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
- The Aristocats
- Bedknobs and Broomsticks
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Theme Park Attractions:
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow
- Journey into Imagination with Figment – One Little Spark
- “it’s a small world”® Attraction – it’s a small world (after all)
- Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room – The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room
Robert’s son, Jeffery Sherman, spoke of his father saying that he “wanted to bring happiness to the world and, unquestionably, he succeeded.” When you find yourself humming the tune of one of their songs throughout the rest of your day, we are sure you will agree!
