Walt Disney Company To Support Hurricane Sandy Relief and Rebuilding Efforts

Days after Hurricane Sandy made landfall in the United States, Americans are still in shock over the loss and devastation from the storm. This storm has affected millions, and our hearts and prayers are with each and every one of them.

Many businesses and individuals alike have stepped up to the plate and are offering help in this very critical time of need. The Walt Disney Company’s CEO Bob Iger has announced a $2 million cash commitment to help the rebuilding and relief efforts of those impacted. $1 million will be donated to the American Red Cross to help fund the immediate assistance they have been providing on the East Coast while the other $1 million will be given to organizations working on rebuilding efforts.

It’s hard to fathom the utter devastation from this storm. Thousands of people in the hurricane’s path lost everything and face the daunting challenge of putting their lives and communities back together. We hope this helps provide immediate aid needed to get through this disaster and begin the road to recovery.” – Bob Iger – CEO, The Walt Disney Company

In addition to the $2 million dollar commitment, Cast Member donations to nonprofits involved in disaster relief will be matched, dollar for dollar by a program of The Walt Disney Company Foundation. Also, the Walt Disney Company’s network of television and radio stations will run public service announcements encouraging their viewers to support relief efforts.
