Basin® Reopens to Downtown Disney® Guests

Basin productsBasin®, a store specializing in bath and beauty products, has reopened after its refurbishment to service guests at the Walt Disney World® Resort’s Downtown Disney® Marketplace.

Although Basin® is most widely known for their dozens of exclusive soaps, their product line also includes many unique moisturizers, bath bombs, massage bars, and shampoo and conditioner bars. All Basin® products have no parabens, alcohol, or mineral oils, are not tested on animals, and are made in the USA! Guests are able to experience many of their products inside the stores by trying them out before purchase. With so many different scents, you will find it hard to decide on just one!

The Downtown Disney® Marketplace location is one of Basin’s® only four storefront locations. A second location can be found nearby on Disney property inside the Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Mickey Soap SculptureThe centerpiece of the updated Downtown Disney® Marketplace location is the giant Mickey Mouse soap sculpture in the middle of the store. This hand sculpted masterpiece started out as a 250-pound block of pure natural vegetable glycerin soap! This Mickey is an exclusive you will not find anywhere else – so be sure to stop by and see him during your next visit to the Walt Disney World® Resort!

New Plans for Downtown Disney

New Plans for Pleasure Island in Downtown DisneyNew dining, shopping and entertainment experiences are in the works for the Downtown Disney® area for a vibrant waterfront district called “Hyperion Wharf.”  The new district will replace the current Pleasure Island Area.

The district will come to life with a nostalgic yet modern take on an early 20th century port city and amusement pier. By day, stylish boutiques and innovative restaurants will draw you in and by night, thousands of lights will transform the area into an electric wonderland.

Taking its name from Hyperion, the Greek god of light, as well as the street on which Walt Disney built his first major animation studio, the wharf district will also feature a relaxing lakeside park and enhanced pedestrian walkways. And its diverse eateries will expand dining availability at the Downtown Disney® area by more than 25 percent.

Along with the new wharf district, other projects are underway at Downtown Disney, including:

  • An extensive renovation of Lego Imagination Center, which will increase its overall footprint by nearly 3,500 square-feet and add new Lego exterior models featuring scenes from classic Disney movies.
  • Enhancements at AMC Theatres that will take the movie-going experience at Downtown Disney to the next level with new digital technology, a Concession Stand of the Future and Florida’s first Fork & Screen Theater;
  • Numerous new or renovated retail shops and merchandise vignettes, as well as additional atmosphere entertainment, throughout Downtown Disney.

Construction on the district begins immediately and it’s scheduled to be completed in 2013.
