Aulani, a Disney Resort & SpaConstruction has begun on the newest Disney Vacation Club destination, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, in Ko Olina, Hawaii. This ocean front resort spreads over 21 acres and features hotel rooms, Disney Vacation Club Villas, meeting rooms, wedding facilities, white sandy beaches, lush tropical landscaping, a salt water lagoon perfect for swimming and snorkeling, a large swimming pool with a huge volcano water slide and much more. ย And you donโ€™t have to be a member of Disney Vacation Club to enjoy it!

Ko Olina is on the Wai’ anae Coast of O’ahu. It is a secluded paradise, yet close enough to Waikiki to enjoy all that city has to offer. The resort itself takes its inspiration from the Hawaiian culture through and through. Disney Imagineers used as much of the natural landscape as possible in their design for this new resort. In fact, there is a large volcanic rock that passes from outside to inside the glass lobby wall. Large volcanic stone columns line the hallways, works of art are perched in the crowns of the lava rock rising up out of the lobby floor.

Disney Imagineers partnered with members of the local community to determine how the story of the resort would unfold for the guests. By doing this they created an experience of ‘total engagement with the land-revealed through storytelling’. Storytelling elements are found throughout the resort, both inside and out.

This resort was created not only for adults but for families as well. ย There is an enormous amount of things for each member of the family to do and see whether on property or out exploring all the beauty and adventure of the Hawaiian islands. ย The resort grounds themselves will be able to keep people occupied for hours. ย Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa is going to be filled with winding pathways that snake their way through streams, lagoons, large swimming pools, water slides, and the beautiful Pacific ocean. ย Kids will love the time they spend in the giant volcano pool and water slide or exploring the sea life in the fish ponds and tidal pools.

For adults, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa will be able to offer them everything a World Class Resort should including fine dining experiences that bring the flavor and flare of the culture with each meal or relax in the spa for a couples massage or aromatherapy treatments.

Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa is scheduled to open in Fall of 2011. ย Beginning August 1, 2010, you can make reservations for this paradise. ย Contact your Magic Makerโ„ขย for more details or request a quote.

If you want some Hawaiian flavor now, you can book a stay at Disney’s Polynesian Resort at the Walt Disney Worldยฎ Resort in Orlando, Florida. Book soon forย FREE Dining plan through select dates in December.

Disney Announces Name for New Family Destination Resort on Oโ€˜ahu

The highly anticipated Disney destination resort currently under construction on the Hawaiian island of Oโ€˜ahu now has an official name. The resortโ€™s name โ€“ Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, Hawaiโ€˜i โ€“ reflects the companyโ€™s deep commitment to celebrating the islandsโ€™ rich history and traditions.ย Plans call for the first phase of the resort to open in fall 2011.

โ€œWe want this resort destination to reflect the vibrant culture that surrounds it. The name โ€˜Aulaniโ€™ expresses a connection to tradition and deep story-telling โ€“ and its roots are here in this land,โ€ said Joe Rohde, senior vice president, Creative for Walt Disney Imagineering. โ€œWeโ€™re so grateful to the local Hawaiians who led us to the discovery of this name, and our goal is to live up to its meaning.โ€

Rohde noted that Aulani translated from the Hawaiian language to English means โ€œthe place that speaks for the great onesโ€ or โ€œthe place that speaks with deep messages.โ€ย ย Nearby to historical sites on the western side of Oโ€˜ahu, Aulani will be located on 21 acres of oceanfront property in the Ko Olina Resort & Marina development.ย The resort is planned to have 360 hotel rooms and 481 two-bedroom equivalent Disney Vacation Club villas.

Design plans call for amenities to engage every member of the family, a hallmark of a Disney vacation.ย Among the recreational highlights planned for the resort are pools and sunset-facing hot tubs, a snorkeling lagoon, a variety of kidsโ€™ club and other play programs for children, and a river, suitable for tube floating, running through a specially created volcanic outcropping.

The resort will also include an 18,000-square-foot spa designed with families in mind.ย The resort, built adjacent to a crystal-blue lagoon and a white-sand beach, is planned to also have two restaurants, a 14,545-square-foot conference center and 48,685 square feet of outdoor venues. Located nearby are the existing Ko Olina Marina and a Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole championship golf course.
