‘Glow with the Show’ at Disney California Adventure® Park

As they say, “the show must GLOW on!” Ok, maybe that isn’t how the saying goes… But, now guests of the Disneyland® Resort can light the night thanks to new Glow with the Show Mickey ear hats that change colors in sync with shows at Disney California Adventure® Park.

These new hats feature iridescent lights that change to compliment the imagery and beat of the World of Color and Mad T Party shows. The fun doesn’t stop at the shows though. When not activated by one of the shows, the ears glow with other settings magically placed around Disney California Adventure® Park. Outside of the park, the ears will put on a show of their own!

Glow with the Show Ears are available at select locations inside Disney California Adventure® Park for $25. Walt Disney Imagineering is currently looking at opportunities to expand the programmed Glow with the Show interaction into Disneyland® Park.

Enjoy this video of the new Glow with the Show ears interacting with World of Color:

Staying at Disneyland Resort Hotel? Here’s another perk…

You already know that there are several benefits to staying at one of the three Disneyland® Resort Hotels.  The Disney California Adventure™ park gate at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will open at 9:00 a.m. exclusively for Disneyland® Resort Hotel guests so they can get in line for Disney’s FASTPASS® tickets to each evening’s performances of “World of Color.” The Disneyland® Resort hotels include the Disneyland® Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier® Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian® Hotel & Spa.‬ The main entrance will open, as scheduled, at 9:30 a.m. for all other day guests.

While Park hours may vary, please check disneyland.com for the most up-to-date schedule. The early access for Disneyland® Resort Hotel guests at the Disney California Adventure park gate at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will be 30 minutes earlier than the opening listed for main entrance.

This is a great benefit for guests staying at Disneyland Resort Hotels, but guests not staying at the hotels will still have access to Disney’s FASTPASS® tickets for “World of Color”.

Innovative Entertainment Technology Drives ‘World of Color’

Elaborate preparation is underway for “World of Color,” the spectacular nighttime water show that will astound guestsWorld of Color with its magnitude and creativity when it debuts in 2010 as the next major milestone in the expansion of Disney’s California Adventure park. Surpassing all Disney water productions, “World of Color” will bring Disney animation to life with powerful fountains that become stars of the show as they create the world’s largest projected water screen.

Extensive testing of the fountains and special effects is now being conducted at Paradise Bay, where “World of Color” – a project in the making since 2004 – in nearly complete. Teams of Disney workers built nearly an acre of superstructure to support the complex production. Walt Disney Imagineering and Creative Entertainment installed the massive infrastructure and innovative technology that will create the stage for this extraordinary combination of music, animation and stunning water effects.

“World of Color” will combine hundreds of magnificent fountains, dazzling colors and an all-new kaleidoscope of audio and visual effects, to take water-infused entertainment to a new level of artistry. The production will flood the senses, taking audiences on an imaginative journey into the colorful worlds of animated Disney classics such as “Alice in Wonderland,” “The Lion King” and “Pocahontas,” along with Disney•Pixar films “Toy Story,” “WALL-E” and many more.

Disney’s newest production features an unprecedented infrastructure of water effects, larger-than-life projections, lasers, fire, fog, surround sound, and stunning images. This technical wizardry, combined with classic Disney film sequences, will create a breathtaking emotional experience for guests, as jaw-dropping effects sweep across the lagoon, soar into the sky, and rush toward the audience.

A newly designed 9,000-capacity viewing area will provide Disney’s California Adventure guests the best view in the park of this exciting nighttime extravaganza. The show lasts approximately 25 minutes.
