Disney on Broadway: Celebrating 20 Years

Sometimes your trips to Disney Destinations can’t be frequent enough! To help relieve those “Disney withdrawals” many of us rely on Disney movies, scrolling through your photos from your previous vacations, or even perusing your favorite fan sites. But one amazing way to heal your Disney fever is by attending a Disney Theatrical Production!

Disney Theatrical Productions is currently celebrating 20 years on Broadway! Over the past 20 years, Disney has brought many of your favorite movies to life on stage including “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Mary Poppins,” “Newsies” and “Aladdin.”

As part of the celebration, this video was recently released of the a cappella group VoicePlay mashing up the best of Disney on Broadway with a contemporary twist! Enjoy!

A special called “Backstage with Disney on Broadway: Celebrating 20 Years” will air this Sunday December 14 at 7|6c on ABC.

‘Frozen Fun’ Coming to Disneyland® Resort

A host of magical adventures based off of Walt Disney Pictures’ blockbuster film is on the way to the Disneyland® Resort!

Frozen Fun, which is scheduled to officially begin Jan. 7, 2015, will bring guests closer than ever to Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf. Several new offerings will be introduced in addition to some changes to current offerings.

  • Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome
Anna & Elsa will be making a move on Dec. 20th from their current Fantasyland meet and greet location to a new spot in the Disney Animation building inside Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure® Park. This new location will still feature a return time ticket system (similar to those obtained from Disney FASTPASS® Service) so there will be no standby queue. Because times are limited, we suggest guests arrive to receive their return time ticket early in the morning. Also in the Disney Animation building, guests can learn how to draw Olaf in the Animation Academy.
  • For the First Time in Forever – A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
Work is currently underway to transform the former Muppet*Vision 3D Theatre into Crown Jewel Theatre of Arendelle. Two historians from Arendelle help to tell the story of Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff using several popular songs from the film. Both return time tickets and a standby queue will be available for this show.
  • Olaf’s Snow Fest
Inside Stage 17, kids of all ages will enjoy a giant play area with real snow, music from The Tubadors and The Frolicking Fjords, and can even decorate snowman cookies. You never know – you may run into Olaf as well!
  • Freeze the Night! A Family Dance Party
The former Mad T Party area will now host a family friendly event inspired by the icy environment of Frozen. Get ready for games, music, photo opportunities, an ice sculptor, and specialty food and beverages.
  • Frozen-themed Show at Royal Theatre and Pre-Parade
Starting Jan. 7, 2015, Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones will begin telling the Frozen story at the Royal Theatre inside Fantasy Faire at Disneyland® Park. Also on that same date, Anna, Elsa and Olaf will resume their pre-parade appearance before every performance of Mickey’s Soundsational Parade.
  • Frozen Addition to Storybook Land Canal Boats
When Storybook Land Canal Boats reopens from a refresh later this month, guests will find Arendelle and its miniature locales have been added to the classic attraction.
  • Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink
Now through Feb. 22, 2015, 60-minute skate sessions are available inside Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink at the Downtown Disney® District. The rink is open 3p-10 p Sun.-Thu. and 3p-11p Fri. and Sat. Additional fees apply.

A special sneak peek of many of these experiences will start on Dec. 20, 2014. All of the Frozen Fun activities inside Disney California Adventure® Park are slated to run through May 15, 2015 with the exception of the Anna & Elsa’s Meet and Greet inside the Disney Animation Building which is expected to remain there permanently. For additional information, please contact your Magic Maker®.

To help you get to know the amazing men and women that make up our Off to Neverland Travel® Magic Maker® team we are excited to launch an ongoing series of posts celebrating the lives behind the magic!

We hope that these posts will give you a more intimate look at just how awesome our team is!

This week, we celebrated with Magic Maker® Jennifer Hyland (TX) as her son’s 5th grade football team went undefeated and brought home the championship! Way to go Hyland Family! The Hyland’s weren’t the only ones celebrating their children this week, as Magic Maker® Courtney Agnello’s (NJ) children brought home two report cards with all A’s! We wouldn’t expect anything else from Courtney’s children! We are truly excited for Magic Maker® Robin Kellogg’s (TX) family as their High School senior is entertaining a lot of great academic and athletic offers for college!

We know many of you experienced the extreme snow that hit Buffalo, NY; for Magic Maker® Lisa Krueger (NY) it was an opportunity to enjoy 4 snow days together with her family! While Lisa was in the snow, Magic Maker® Heather Rodgers was in the middle of an amazing family trip to Hawaii! You’ll have the opportunity to read about her trip soon!

It was also a big week for Magic Maker® Megan Paradiso (NJ) who started a MOMpreneurs group earlier this year; she recently reached 150 members! Megan is striving to help mom’s find a good work/life/mom balance! Magic Maker® Mandy Girven (NC) also had big week as she just started a new position at a private college near her home and Magic Maker® Natalie Corey (AL) found herself busy at a fun and successful neighborhood event, a ladies night sip and shop!

Magic Maker® Julie Paolino (NY) just welcomed a niece into the world, on Mickey Mouse’s birthday! It sounds like we have a new Magic Maker® in the making! Not only was new life welcomed into the world, Magic Maker® Marcie Munoz (TX) celebrated 18 years of marriage with her hubby and Magic Maker® Melissa Ludwig (OR) and her husband just closed on their first house! Magic Maker® Lisa Gillissen (OH) gathered a group together to pack shoeboxes for Project Christmas Child; we are so excited about Lisa’s passion to make a difference in the lives of others!

Professionally, Magic Makers® Clydene Rogers (CA), Tara Radulski (MS), Ginger Carnell (CO), and Kim Bowers (GA) all  reported in with fantastic weeks planning amazing experiences and hearing glowing reports from many of their clients!

And how could we forget to celebrate with Magic Maker® Amanda Harris (TX), whose foster hound hasn’t wet the carpet in days! Now THAT is reason to celebrate!

As you can see, we have a lot to be thankful for in our Off to Neverland Travel® family…and this isn’t even the whole crew!

At the end of the day, we are all real people, with real lives, planning magical experiences for you!

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Refurbishment Brings Rooms for Five

Soon, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will join the list of resort hotels capable of accommodating families of five! Once complete, refurbished rooms will feature (2) Queen Beds sleeping 4 guests or (2) Queen Beds and a pulldown Murphy bed accommodating a 5th guest. The resort’s Pirate-themed rooms will remain as is.

In addition to the change in bedding, a refresh has been given to the other furnishings in the room giving them an overall new look. With the new dark furniture and a splash of color through artwork and other furnishings, the changes are very refreshing and make the rooms very inviting.

At this time no completion dates have been announced. We will be sure to keep you updated as information becomes available. In the meantime, enjoy this sneak peek of the new rooms:

Disney Destinations and Dietary Needs

By Magic Maker® Melissa Ludwig

Vacations are a way of escaping from everyday life, leaving stress behind, and spending quality time with those you care about. However, there are many points during the planning process that can cause stress, and your Magic Maker® is here to take that off your shoulders. One of the common causes of stress for traveling families is in accommodating special dietary needs. Disney Destinations, as usual, have pulled out all the stops to make sure that you do not have to worry about what you will be eating during your magical getaway.

Whether it is a dairy intolerance, sensitivity to gluten, or a specific food such as almonds that you must avoid in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, Disney Destinations will to their best to cater to any special requests. When you and your Magic Maker® are ready to make advance dining reservations, notify your Magic Maker® of your special dietary needs and they will make sure to include this in your reservations. Often, chefs can substitute different ingredients in meals, so that you don’t even have to choose an alternate meal, but actually have the one you want! The following is a list of common allergies that most Disney Parks restaurants can accommodate/substitute:

  • Gluten or wheat
  • Lactose or dairy
  • Peanuts and tree nuts
  • Shellfish
  • Soy
  • Fish
  • Eggs
  • Corn

When you arrive at a Disney Park restaurant, it is always a good idea to remind your server of your dietary needs as well (though the server will often check with you first, since it will be in your reservation notes). If you have a metabolic disorder or multiple allergies, you will want to be sure to notify your Magic Maker® so that it can be factored in to all dining arrangements.

For many people, food allergies are not necessarily a worry, but some may still have strong preferences about what to include or not include in a daily diet. Many Disney Park restaurants will offer no-sugar-added, low-fat, low-sodium, Kosher and vegetarian options for meals to take care of these dietary needs as well.

Vacation time means time to relax and unwind. A large part of that is being able to enjoy your dining experiences while away… especially at Disney Destinations, where food is extra-fun! What you are going to eat on your trip should never be a worry, and your Magic Maker® will help to ensure that you will have all of the dining information that you need before you even pack your bags.
