Will Tropical Storm Isaac Affect My Upcoming Disney Vacation?
Updated 8/26/2012 – 8:00p EDT
At Walt Disney World® Resort and aboard Disney Cruise Line®, the safety of guests, cast, and crew members are always their top priority.
Tropical Storm Isaac, which was upgraded from a Tropical Depression and received its name on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, was expected to strengthen into a hurricane earlier this week, but has yet to do so. The storm is becoming a little more organized and is believed to be upgraded to a hurricane within the next 24 hours.
Our guests in Florida will experience minimal impact from the storm. As of now, no changes in operation have been announced by Walt Disney World® Resort. The Resort area was under a Tropical Storm Watch, but that has expired.
Disney Cruise Line® has announced that no changes have been made to the following itineraries:
- Disney Dream® Aug. 29th, 4-night sailing to the Bahamas
Will Tropical Storm Ernesto Affect Disney Cruise Line Departures?
Updated 8/3/2012 – 9pm Eastern
The safety of the Guests and crew members aboard all Disney Cruise Line® ships is their top priority. With that in mind, Disney Cruise Line® has made changes to the scheduled itinerary for the 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise departing from Port Canaveral, FL, on Saturday, August 4th aboard the Disney Fantasy™.
Because of the presence of Tropical Storm Ernesto in the Caribbean Sea, Disney Cruise Line® has altered the itinerary for the Disney Fantasy™ to sail in the Eastern Caribbean. This new itinerary will include stops in St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and Disney’s Castaway Cay Island.
Port Adventures that were previously booked for Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, and Cozumel have automatically been cancelled. Port Adventures for Disney’s Castaway Cay Island will remain valid as scheduled. Please check with the Port Adventures Desk upon embarkation to inquire about any available Port Adventures at your new ports.
As true with every sailing, guests aboard the Disney Fantasy™ can be reached at sea by calling 888-DC-AT-SEA or internationally 732-335-3281. Please note that satellite telephone rates apply and are significantly higher than traditional long distance rates.
Hurricane Rina Causes Disney Cruise Line Itinerary Change
The latest reports from the National Weather Service indicate Hurricane Rina is moving through the Western Caribbean. Due to the possible impact of this storm over the next few days, Disney Cruise Line® has modified its itinerary to include ports of call that are located a safe distance away from the storm.
The Oct. 29, 2011, voyage of the Disney Magic® will now set sail for the Eastern Caribbean, following this revised itinerary:
Saturday – Port Canaveral
Sunday – Day at Sea
Monday – Day at Sea
Tuesday – St. Maarten
Wednesday – Tortola
Thursday – Day at Sea
Friday – Disney’s Castaway Cay
Saturday – Port Canaveral
Port Adventures that were pre-reserved in Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel will automatically be removed from guests’ onboard account, while those for Castaway Cay will remain as scheduled. Port Adventures for St. Maarten and Tortola may be booked once onboard at the Port Adventures Desk, located on Deck 3, Mid-ship. Any pre-booked services at Palo, Flounder’s Reef Nursery, and Vista Spa and Salon will also remain as originally scheduled.
