Casting a Spell with Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom

Lumiere Candle BlastStarting tomorrow, guests will protect the Magic Kingdom® from many Disney villains in a new interactive game. The new “Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom” game sends park guests throughout the park in search of villain hideouts spread throughout Adventureland, Fantasyland, Liberty Square, Frontierland, and Main Street U.S.A. Apprentice sorcerers will use special magic keys to access these hideouts and supplied spell cards to put a stop to the villains. “Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom” will feature seventy different spell cards – each with a different Disney character with a spell unique to his or her personality.

“Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom gives our guests a whole new way to become the hero of the Disney story, taking Disney innovation to a new level,” said Jonathan Ackley, Project Producer & Creative Director, Walt Disney Imagineering. “It’s a great game of discovery and excitement that plays off our wonderful theme park and incredible family of Disney animated characters.”

Disney Imagineers spent more than four years creating and perfecting this unique experience.  “Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom” can be broken up in 15- to 20-minute segments throughout a guests’ day at the Magic Kingdom®, or played continuously for about three to four hours. “Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom” is included in the price of theme park admission to the Magic Kingdom® Park.

Hall of Presidents Celebrates Our Nation’s Leaders Daily

Happy Presidents’ Day!

It seems like no better time to take a behind-the-scenes look at the Hall of Presidents Attraction at the Magic Kingdom® Park. The Hall of Presidents was inspired by the “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” exhibit that Walt featured at the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. When the Hall of Presidents opened in 1971, Walt’s original one-man-show was taken to a new level when all of the past Presidents were presented on stage at the same time. Since then, each new President has been added to the show.

Disney Imagineers joined with Pulitzer-Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin to complete the latest refurbishment which includes President Obama.

Blaine Gibson, the original artist of the animatronics in the Hall of Presidents, created all of the figures with the exception of Barack Obama. Obama was sculpted by Gibson’s protege, Valerie Edwards.

Disneyland Park adds Charging Lockers

A dead smartphone battery is no longer a reason to slow down guests at the Disneyland® Park. Guests can now take advantage of new “Charging Lockers” which were installed inside Main Street Lockers and Storage.

Use of the lockers are pretty simple:

  1. Select whether you need a standard outlet (if you brought your own cell/camera charger), or use the supplied Apple or Android/Blackberry cord.
  2. Use the touchpad kiosk to prepay for the first hour of use.
  3. Create a 4-digit pin that will be used later to access your locker.
  4. The kiosk will print a receipt with your locker assignment. Connect the device to the charger inside the locker and you are ready to go enjoy the park.
  5. When returning, if you are within the prepaid hour time frame, you can return directly to your locker. If not, first return to the kiosk and pay any additional balance.

Pricing for the new Charging Locker is $2 per hour. At this time, this secure alternative to charging your devices is only available inside the Disneyland® Park.
