Surprise Reunion For Military Family at Epcot®

Every day, countless memories are made inside the parks of the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida and the Disneyland® Resort in California. For the Halquist family, they made a special memory that will never be forgotten!

Earlier this week, Amy Halquist and her three children were enjoying a performance by the Voices of Liberty at Epcot®. But her kids, Grace (8), Jack (7), and Joshua (2), had no idea that their mom had arranged a surprise for them at the end of the show.

We hope you enjoy the video of this extremely magical moment!

A special Thank You to SPC Scott Halquist and all the men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces for their services and for protecting our country!

Magic Kingdom® Park: World’s Most-Visited Theme Park

Travel + Leisure Magazine has updated their listing of the World’s Most-Visited Theme Parks and Magic Kingdom® Park has claimed the #1 spot!

More than 17 million guests were welcomed through the main gates of the Magic Kingdom® Park in 2011 and enjoyed its seven themed lands. The Park is no stranger to this #1 position, though. Since its opening on Oct. 1, 1971, the Walt Disney World® Resort has always been a popular vacation destination.

Disney Parks’ locations around the world have claimed the top 8 positions on Travel + Leisure Magazine’s listing based off of 2011 attendance numbers. Domestically, Disneyland® Park was a close #2.

Video: Sneak Peek of ‘Enchanted Tales With Belle’

We’ve already seen how many details the Imagineers are including in New Fantasyland® Area in the Magic Kingdom® Park! There truly is no inch of this expansion that wasn’t well planned with creativity and innovation.

Enchanted Tales with Belle is no exception. Imagineers wanted this experience to be more than a meet and greet – something that every guest would remember, regardless of their age or interest in Disney Princesses.

The Enchanted Tales with Belle experience begins inside Maurice’s cottage, Belle’s childhood home, and ends inside the library at Beast’s Castle.

You’re going to love this experience! Enjoy as this two-part video as Imagineers Chris Beatty, Chris Kelly and Ted Robledo explain how this “tale as old as time” will be brought to life – with you as a star! Parents: You may want to keep these videos to yourself and save the MAGIC for the little ones to experience in person!

The Enchanted Forest portion of the New Fantasyland® Area in the Magic Kingdom® Park will open Dec. 6, 2012 with limited previews beginning Nov. 19.

‘Great Irish Hooley’ Set To Begin Tomorrow

First things first – you are probably wondering what the heck a “hooley” is. Well, a hooley (or hoolie) is an Irish word for ‘a lively party.’

Now then, everyone loves a party, right?

Central Florida’s first Great Irish Hooley will kick off tomorrow, Aug. 31 at Raglan Road™ Irish Pub and Restaurant in Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island. A four day celebration, the party continues through Labor Day weekend until Sep. 3.

Planned experiences include:

  • Six top Irish bands playing traditional and rock tunes
  • Irish Dance Workshops to help the whole family polish their dance moves
  • Structured set dancing called the Ceili (kay-lee)
  • Celtic face painting

And of course, guests can belly up to one of Raglan Road’s™ 130-year-old imported-from-Ireland bars or grab a table for authentic fare by Irish celebrity chef Kevin Dundon.

If you are visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, be sure to catch the Great Irish Hooley – it’s sure to be a craic (wild time)!

The “Keep Moving Forward: See the World, Share the Dream Segway Tour” will be a three hour journey that explores the vision that Walt Disney had for a better tomorrow and what resulted from his vision: “The Florida Project” and Epcot®!

Compared to its predecessor, the “Keep Moving Forward” tour will offer a more in-depth look at all of the World Showcase Pavilions (instead of select ones), enhanced audio devices on your Segways to hear your guides, a new commemorative pin exclusive to this tour, and a breakfast at Sunshine Seasons.

The tour costs $99 plus tax for guests 16 and older with some discounts available for select guests. Guests who had previously booked the “Around the World Segway Tour” for dates after Sep. 17, 2012, will automatically be moved to the new tour for the same time slot.

‘Celebrate the Magic’ Coming Soon to Magic Kingdom® Park

On Monday, Sep. 3, 2012, “The Magic, The Memories and You!” will be presented for the last time at Magic Kingdom® Park. This nighttime projection show, which featured guests’ pictures from that day’s Disney’s PhotoPass® service, will be replaced with a new show called “Celebrate the Magic.”

Taking place on the outside of Cinderella Castle, “Celebrate the Magic” will include some favorite elements from the current show with all-new music, storytelling, and special effects.

“‘Celebrate the Magic’ takes us on a journey to the heart of the most beloved Disney stories and characters. This amazing show will magically transform Cinderella Castle with spectacular projection effects, choreographed to a new music soundtrack. The show will be full of emotion and storytelling, proving that, with imagination and magic in our hearts, anything is possible.” Katy Harris – Show Director

“Celebrate the Magic” is set to premier in Magic Kingdom® Park sometime in November. “The Magic, The Memories and You!” will also end at Disneyland® Park on Sep. 3, but will not be replaced. Guests of that park can expect the return of “it’s a small world®” holiday later this year.
