TRON Monorail

Guests at Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida can see a bit of the TRON universe zipping high above their heads. Tron MonorailRenderings of yellow and blue light cycles have transformed one of the trains on the Walt Disney World’s legendary monorail line. A blue light cycle zips to the left along one side of Walt Disney World’s “highway in the sky” and the yellow light cycle zooms to the right. This particular monorail currently takes guests between Epcot® and the Walt Disney World ® Resort’s main Ticket and Transportation Center.

Tron Monorail

This is not just to remind you of the 1982 film, but to introduce you to a new classic.  The sequel, “TRON: Legacy”, to 1982’s “TRON,” starring Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges, will be released in both Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D and is currently scheduled to debut across the US on December 17.

Bring the Whole Family

By Magic Maker® Vicki Ohlerking

If you’ve ever thought about a vacation to the Walt Disney World® Resort, why not expand that thought Bring the Whole Familyand consider a trip for the WHOLE family or even a family reunion?  I have just returned from a third trip with grandparents, siblings and cousins and I can’t think of a better place to create great family memories than at Walt Disney World® Resort.  We literally start counting down the days until the next trip together on the day we get home.

Because so much is offered for every age group, along with exclusive experiences for larger groups, each trip is unique.  From the theme parks, dining and shopping, to fireworks cruises and behind the scenes tours, everyone has something to do.  And the great thing is that we can be together for some things and then go our own direction for others.  So everybody has an incredible time!

Here are a few tips and suggestions for making your family trip magical:

Agree on an itinerary ahead of time.
Park hours are available months ahead, so you can have a general idea of what parks you’ll go to on each day.  And by making advance dining reservations, meals won’t be a pressure point.  Just remember to be flexible and use the itinerary as a guideline to accommodate everyone’s expectations.

Breaking up is NOT hard to do.
Go into the trip with the mindset that it’s ok at times to go different directions.  For example, take a couple of hours where everyone goes to ride what they want to, and then meet back for lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon together doing things that everyone wants to do.

Take a fireworks cruise.
There are affordable private cruises that will take you out to watch Illuminations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot® or the Wishes fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom® Park.  It’s a very relaxing way to enjoy the fireworks with just your family.

Say “Cheese.”
Family photos are a great way to look back.  Take advantage of Disney’s Photopass® services.  Photographers are located throughout the parks and at most of the Character Meet-and-Greet locations.  Or bring a handheld video camera and tape Grandma screaming throughout the entire ride on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad® Attraction!

With a great plan, a Walt Disney World® vacation for the entire family can be one of your greatest memories.  And the best way to make it all come together is to have an experienced agent work for you.  As Magic Makers™ with Off to Neverland Travel®, we have vast knowledge of what Disney offers and we plan each trip as if it were our own.  So let us take care of all the details to bring your entire family together for a dream vacation no one will ever forget!

Cantina de San Angel at Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion

The Mexico Pavilion along the World Showcase Lagoon waterfront in Epcot® has been lined with construction walls. The popular Cantina de San Angel restaurant is expanding, and when the wall comes down there will be 400 seats.  The new Cantina will have both al fresco and air-conditioned seating for lunch as well as a coveted spot for dinner and viewing IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, the nightly Epcot® fireworks spectacular. Half the space will be occupied by a table-service restaurant, and the other half by a counter-service dining option.  The Cantina will then be known by a new name; La Hacienda de San Angel.

Plans are to open in the fall, just in time for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Until then, you can get your guacamole fix inside at San Angel Inn underneath a blanket of stars inside of the Pavilion.  Or try the newer La Cava de Tequila with 95 varieties of tequila served in addition to mouthwatering margaritas (plus a variety of quick tastes served tapas style). If you’re just passing by outside, the Taqueria del Lago kiosk serves Mexican favorites such as nachos and quesadillas and mixes a delicious margarita for sipping and strolling.

Can’t wait to taste that delicious Mexican food?

Disney Dining- Adult Style

From Magic Maker® Deb TokarskiDisney World Adult Dining
I love, love, love going to the Walt Disney World® Resort…more so now that I go as an adult or in an all adult group, as opposed to when I was a child or traveling with children. Not that Disney is not for children, it certainly is, but Walt Disney World® dining with adults, well let‘s just say…“It‘s a Whole New World.”

The excellent chefs and dining options at the Walt Disney World® Resort couldn‘t be more enjoyable!  Here are a few of my favorite adult dining destinations:

Narcoossee’s, located at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, has a timeless eloquence, beautiful surroundings and an excellent menu of innovative, coastal cuisine from North American waters.  The experience is capped off with a spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom®!

The Flying Fish Café, located at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, has a whimsical atmosphere and a diverse menu encompassing the “New American” style. Guests can also dine at the show kitchen to watch and interact with the chefs.

California Grill, located on the 15th floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, features spectacular views of Seven Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom® Park.  The light and airy atmosphere combined with a wonderful menu makes this an instant favorite.

Wolfgang Puck is located in the Downtown Disney® West Side. The name says it all! Awesome!  You will feast upon the inventive creations of master chef Wolfgang Puck at this exciting, upscale eatery.  The four different dining rooms in this unique restaurant each offer its own unique atmosphere.

One of my personal favorites, Le Cellier Steakhouse, located in the Canada Pavilion at World Showcase in the Epcot® has the best steak at the Walt Disney World® Resort!  A steak-lover’s paradise served in an environment inspired by castle wine cellars of the grandest of Canadian chateaus.

Try the new Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom VillasKidani Village or Jiko – The Cooking Place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, both with an African influence, a pleasurable experience! Both offer creative menus where the inspiration comes from the many cultures and cuisines along the historical spice route – Africa, India, China, and Europe.

For the ultimate adult dining experience, make a reservation at the posh Victoria & Albert’s* at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for award-winning meals that make heads turn!  This very-special-occasion romantic Victorian retreat offers nightly harpists, lavish décor, personalized menus and a long-stem rose for each lady.

Do you have special dietary concerns? Need Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Vegan, or Kosher meals prepared for you or someone in your traveling party? Disney chefs are very accommodating; just mention this to your Dream Maker when asking for your Advance Dining Reservations.

Still want to feel just like a kid again and dine with the characters? No worries, adults are always welcome in their most popular restaurants! Have dinner with Cinderella’s wicked step sisters at 1900 Park Faire at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, dining with the Big Cheese himself at Chef Mickey’s in Disney’s Contemporary Resort or have breakfast with Minnie Mouse, Goofy & Donald Duck, at the Cape May Café  at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. All have excellent buffets with plenty of options to please any appetite! Yes, you can still eat at a majority of the Walt Disney World® Resort restaurants with children, in fact children’s menus are offered in most of their restaurants.

Dining with an all adult group is really an enjoyable dining experience. I rank some of the Walt Disney World® Resort restaurants with five stars! I hope on your next trip…you can enjoy a few of these excellent adult Disney dining choices and the great service given in each and every one of them! Just mention these restaurants and let your Magic Maker™ grant your Disney Dining Wishes!
