La Nouba transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, engaging the imagination from beginning to end with opulent sets, brilliant choreography, theatrical lighting and provocative music. Featuring mesmerizing high wire and flying trapezes, stunning acro-gymnastic performances and other dynamic displays of coordination and strength, La Nouba promises to surprise, excite and mystify. Come to La Nouba, where anything is possible.

Star-Powered, 16-Act Lineup Slated for Night of Joy 2008 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Night of Joy at Walt Disney World Resort, regarded as one of the top contemporary Christian music events in the country, will feature a 16-act lineup Sept. 5-6 that includes Gospel Music Association Dove Awards winners such as current Artist of the Year Chris Tomlin, Group of the Year Casting Crowns and New Artist of the Year Aaron Shust plus 2004 Artist of the Year MercyMe and enduringly popular tobyMac and Rebecca St. James.

Now in its 26th year, Night of Joy is moving to a new venue, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which features both outstanding concert locations and must-do thrill attractions. Guests attending Night of Joy, which takes place from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. (after regular theme park hours), can combine an evening of rockin’ Christian music with the thrills and chills of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror plus the shoot-’em-up fun of Toy Story Mania!

Concerts will take place at several stage locations, with eight national recording acts performing each evening. Here’s how they’ll line up:

Sept. 5 Tomlin, MercyMe, St. James, BarlowGirl, Matthew West, Rush of Fools, Brandon Heath and Britt Nicole.

Sept. 6 Casting Crowns, tobyMac, Fred Hammond, Marcos Witt, Mandisa, Shust, RED and Pure NRG.

The lineup represents a continuation of Night of Joy’s historic blend of musical talents — from Christian pop and rock to contemporary Gospel, Urban and hip-hop to Praise and Worship. Half of this year’s acts have won Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, one of Christian music’s highest honors. More than one million guests have experienced Night of Joy from 1983 through 2007, a 25-year period during which the event was held in Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom.

Enjoy While You Can

As with all things in life, change is upon us. The Walt Disney World® Resort is not free from change, in fact, many times they pioneer change before others. Off to Neverland Travel® has confirmed the closure of one show and changes to two Disney restaurants. We wanted to make you aware of the changes so that you can make sure you have a chance to experience these before the changes take place.

  • Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends in Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park will have its final show on September 27, 2008 according to the Orlando Sentinel. Disney has not announced a replacement at this time.
  • As of January 5, 2009, the Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom® Park will no longer offering character dining. Dinner will continue to be served without the characters.
  • As of October 5, the Garden Grill in EPCOT® will only be open for dinner, and will no longer be serving lunch.

Packing for Perfection

One of our Magic Makers®, Kyle Froman, writes for a newspaper in Spring Hill, TN, as the local travel guru.  His latest article, Packing for Perfection, has a great tip for packing as much as you can into one bag to avoid extra airline fees.

A great tip in helping you utilize your suitcase space is to use oversized Ziploc freezer bags. It is really the same concept as the fancy vacuum bags only more economical, and common, who really has a vacuum in their hotel for that return trip home!

Bold New Vision for Downtown Disney

Walt Disney World® Resort has unveiled a new vision for the Downtown Disney® area, with extraordinary new shopping, dining and other experiences including a completely re-imagined Pleasure Island. Also planned are numerous enhancements to popular Downtown Disney locations, as well as additional theming and storytelling brought to life by Walt Disney Imagineers.

“We are committed to offering Guests new and exciting experiences they can only have at Walt Disney World® Resort,” said Downtown Disney Vice President Kevin Lansberry. “Our bold new vision for Downtown Disney reflects the feedback we receive from our Guests each and every day and will enable us to continue to offer the high-quality entertainment that is our hallmark.”

Over the next year, the 120-acre entertainment-shopping-dining complex will add a number of one-of-a-kind, immersive experiences for you to enjoy. Downtown Disney will even get its own iconic attraction, in the form of a giant, tethered balloon that will take Guests 300 feet into the air to view the amazing vistas of Walt Disney World Resort.

Other new experiences include:

  • In fall 2008, you will enter a world of prehistoric creatures at T-Rex: A Prehistoric Family Adventure. The dinosaur-themed family eatery will serve up pizzas, pastas, seafood and more, and will feature life-size animated dinosaurs that dwell among bubbling geysers, waterfalls and a fossil dig site.
  • Also this fall, a design-your-own t-shirt store from Hanes will add to the growing collection of merchandise you can personalize.
  • E-brands Restaurants, an Orlando-based, multi-concept restaurant group, will premier its newest concept in spring 2009. The high-energy, casual eatery will feature authentic Central and South American cuisine, specialty drinks and live music along the waterfront.

You also will enjoy a brand new mix of shopping and dining experiences at Pleasure Island as it is transformed over the next two years.

“Our Guests tell us they want additional shopping and dining experiences at Downtown Disney,” added Lansberry. “We are currently considering a number of unique concepts from around the globe as we re-imagine Pleasure Island and look forward to sharing our progress over the coming months.”

To make way for the new offerings, all of the clubs currently on Pleasure Island will close on Sept. 27, 2008. Other locations on Pleasure Island, including Raglan Road, Fuego by Sosa Cigars, Curl by Sammy Duval, Orlando Harley-Davidson and outdoor food and beverage locations will remain open during the transition.

To complement the new experiences, many popular Downtown Disney locations will undergo enhancements.

  • Beginning this summer, Portobello Yacht Club will be transformed into a Tuscan Country Trattoria, featuring family-style dishes and a re-designed interior and exterior, including additional outdoor seating.
  • This fall, Goofy’s Candy Company will add a special new room that will enable families to host one-of-a-kind birthday parties.
  • The Marketplace Stage will be completely replaced with a larger, covered stage this fall to welcome even more entertainment to Downtown Disney and serve as a new premier venue for Disney Magic Music Days.
  • Fulton’s Crab House will update its interior fixtures and furnishings and exterior in spring 2009.
  • Next year, Wolfgang Puck Café will update its interior fixtures and furnishings and enclose its patio with glass to enable guests to enjoy the outdoors year-round.

These efforts come on the heels of recent enhancements at World of Disney, Wolfgang Puck Express, Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop, Earl of Sandwich and Cap’n Jack’s Restaurant.

Toy Story Mania

Toy Story ManiaStep right up and compete in an interactive “Toy Story” adventure like no other. It’s Toy Story Mania!—a brand-new 4-D attraction inspired by Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story” films, debuting at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ in Florida in late May and at Disney’s California Adventure® Park in Anaheim June 17, 2008. It’s one more magical reason for your Clients to visit Disney Parks during The Year of a Million Dreams celebration!

Guests will don 3-D glasses before boarding a carnival tram ride vehicle and zipping off into a world of midway-style games hosted by favorite characters like Woody, Buzz, Rex and Hamm! It’s a high-energy adventure that puts Guests right in the action as their game play triggers fun surprises that provide a fourth dimension of fun.

The carnival tram ride vehicles stop to face a series of game booths — high-tech yet rooted in classic midway games of skill — and Guests aim for 3-D animated targets using their own on-board spring-action shooters. Players pair up and sit side-by-side for a friendly competition that delivers an ever-changing variety of targets and surprises.

As they play, Guests can actually see the “virtual” objects they’ve launched leave their spring-action shooters and hit (or miss) the targets. And thanks to 4-D special effects technology, they may sense objects whirring past them as they pop out of the 3-D scenes. Play is energized by the spirit of the “Toy Story” characters cast in games that best suit their very animated personalities.

Toy Story Mania! raises the bar for interactive ride-game attractions and engages Guests in a whole new way with favorite characters from the “Toy Story” films. The Toy Story Mania! games are designed to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages and skills, from beginners to experienced gamers. And no matter how many times Guests return to ride and play, they can be sure every ride-through will seem different!
