Winter Storm Nemo Complicating Travel

Dumping up to 38 inches of snow in some parts of the Northeast, Winter Storm Nemo is making his presence known! As expected, travel to and from the area has come to a standstill.

Travel will continue to be complicated for our guests in the Northeast corridor today. Orlando International Airport (MCO), the main airport servicing the Walt Disney World® Resort, experienced over 70 flight cancellations Friday because of the storm. As of 10am, approximately 90 have been cancelled for Saturday. Airports most affected by the storm include those in Boston, Hartford, Providence, Syracuse, and the NYC-area.

Braves Return to Walt Disney World® Resort for Spring Training

Atlanta Braves Spring Training After earning a National League Wild Card berth last year, the Atlanta Braves are returning to Champion Stadium at the ESPN Wide World of Sports® Complex in just two weeks to begin their Spring Training. This will be their 16th season of training at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida. Starting on Feb. 22, the Braves will play against a lineup of marquee baseball teams including the New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers.

Each Atlanta Braves Spring Training game has family-oriented fun with in-game entertainment, Disney character appearances and on-field fan experiences. Be sure to stick around after the game as your kids will have the opportunity to run the bases!

Braves Return to Walt Disney World® Resort for Spring Training

Details On 2013 Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival

Preparations for the 2013 Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival are well underway, and it looks like the 20th installment of this annual event will be better than ever! Presented by HGTV, the festival will run Mar. 6 – May 19, 2013 at the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Along with the beautiful blossoms around every corner of the park, guests will find several “firsts” at next year’s Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival.

Festival-themed flavors: Spread throughout the World Showcase promenade, discover culinary creations and refreshing libations at themed food and beverage locations. Menu items will have backyard barbecue, garden-inspired, and global tastes.
Land of Oz Play Area: This interactive new children’s play zone on the Imagination walkway will feature giant play systems, Midway-style games, an “Oz Movie Garden” of intriguing plants, and photo opportunities. Capturing the spirit of the upcoming “Oz: The Great and Powerful” movie, the play area will be a perfect place for your kids to burn some of that extra energy!
Fab Five topiary barbecue: This year’s front entrance display will be full of “character” when the Fab Five host an Anniversary barbecue! A 14-foot-tall topiary Goofy will bobble an anniversary cake while Donald and Daisy play badminton, Mickey fires up the grill, Pluto swipes a link of hot dogs and Minnie chills out on a colorful blanket of blossoms. The pure artistry of Disney’s topiary experts will amaze you!
Illuminated Gardens: Every night when the sun sets, many of the festival’s topiaries and gardens will twinkle and shine in a whole new light. The colorful glow of Illuminated Gardens will be something you don’t want to miss!

But that’s just the beginning! Throughout the 75-day festival, guests will also enjoy presentations by HGTV celebrity designers, interactive gardening seminars, more than 100 topiaries including new designs like Mike and Sully from the hit Disney-Pixar film Monsters, Inc., and a butterfly house hosted by the fairies of Pixie Hollow.

And on weekends, Epcot® will feature some of the top Flower Power rockers of the 60s and 70s. This year’s Flower Power Concert Series schedule includes:

New Theatrical Show Coming to Disneyland® Park

Mickey and the Magic Map Late last summer, Disneyland® Park closed the Princess Fantasy Faire to renovate the Fantasyland® Theatre for a new theatrical stage show.

Debuting in Summer 2013, “Mickey and the Magical Map” will bring another live entertainment experience to Disneyland® Park. While still in development, the Creative Entertainment team at Disneyland® Park gives the following synopsis of the show:

The wise sorcerer Yen Sid tells of a wondrous map – one unlike any other – with the power to take dreamers to any place imaginable. But when young apprentice Mickey Mouse attempts to paint the map’s one unfinished spot, he stumbles into a fantastic adventure through worlds of music, color and beloved characters, as he discovers the mystery of the map’s magic!

During his adventure, Mickey will encounter classic Disney characters like Pocahontas, Mulan, King Louie, and Princess Tiana.

At this time, no official dates have been set for the opening of “Mickey and the Magical Map,” but we will keep you updated when that becomes available.

2013 Flower Power Concert Series Lineup Announced

Flowers from Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival The Walt Disney World® Resort has announced the lineup for this year’s Flower Power Concert Series. As part of Epcot’s® International Flower & Garden Festival, some of the top Flower Power rockers of the 1960s and ’70s take the stage at America Gardens Theatre to perform favorite tunes from generations past!

New to this year’s lineup is ’70s top disco band The Village People and 1960s singer-songwriter Tommy Roe.

Galveston Weather Delay

As of 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time on February 5, 2013

The port area in Galveston, Texas, is currently experiencing heavy fog and the channel between the terminal and the Gulf of Mexico has been closed to all inbound and outbound vessel traffic.

At this time, the Disney Magic® is offshore waiting for the fog to clear and for the port to reopen. Once the port reopens, the onboard Guests will need to complete the debarkation process before boarding can begin for today’s sailing.

As a result of this unexpected weather delay, we are asking guests to postpone their arrival to the terminal building by at least one (1) hour after your selected port arrival time. Due to the nature of any weather condition, it is possible that further delays may occur. We will continue to monitor the fog conditions closely and will be sending updates as needed.
