The Rose Parade: A 75-Year Disney Tradition

Happy New Year!

Back on Thanksgiving, we shared with you details on the Walt Disney Company’s long roots with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®. A similar story exists for The Rose Parade, which kicks off this morning at 8:00am in Pasadena, California.

Disney’s first appearance in The Rose Parade was in 1938 when characters from the newly premiered “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” appeared in the parade. Since then, several milestones have been celebrated in the parade, including Walt Disney serving as the Grand Marshall in 1966.

This year’s float will be called “Destination: Cars Land.” The float takes Disney California Adventure® Park’s newest addition, Cars Land, on the road and features many characters and landmarks you will recognize from the Disney•Pixar movie.

The Rose Parade: A 75-Year Disney Tradition

First ‘Limited Time Magic’ Events of 2013 Announced

Just a few days away from the new year, the Walt Disney World® Resort and the Disneyland® Resort have announced the first “Limited Time Magic” experiences for 2013.

Walt Disney World® Resort

Bling in the New Year – From Dec. 30th through Jan. 5th, Magic Kingdom® Park will host Tomorrowland’s® first ever “Bling in the New Year” dance party! Your favorite Disney characters will be partying it up around Rockettower Plaza Stage with live entertainment and dance music. No worries if you don’t think your little ones can make it until midnight – there will be a New Year’s countdown every hour!

Disneyland® Resort

Three Kings Celebration – Disneyland® Park will celebrate Three Kings Day with 3-days of music, activities, and cuisine. Taking place Jan. 4th – 6th in the Big Thunder Ranch area, the celebration plays tribute to Southern California’s Mexican culture.
A Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue – This is “Limited Time Magic” that you won’t want to miss! Experience a musical variety show inspired by the original show Walt enjoyed himself! Sit back and enjoy family-friendly comedy, singing, and dancing. Performances will be Thurs. through Mon. from Jan. 10th – Feb. 4th. Check your daily Times Guide for more information.

And on both coasts, it is the “Year of the Ear.” Each month, new ear hats will be released for you to to add to your collection. January will start with the limited release of Disney Couture Ear Hats.

2013 Star Wars™ Weekends Dates Announced

Jedi Master Mickey Mouse greeting guests Get ready for the return of Star Wars™ Weekends at the Walt Disney World® Resort! Taking place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™, the event celebrates the popular Star Wars™ films and the animated TV series Star Wars™: The Clone Wars. The annual special event, included in regular theme park admission, will be held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 17-June 9, 2013.

In addition to the Star Wars™ experiences Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ host year round – Star Tours® The Adventures Continue and the Jedi Training Academy – several additional activities are available for guest during the event like meet and greet opportunities and Star Wars™ themed parades and shows.
